Coach Syndrome is a rare cause of Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis associated with neurological features. COACH is a mnemonic comprising of Cerebellar vermis hypo/aplasia, Oligophrenia (developmental delay/mental retardation), Ataxia, Coloboma and Hepatic fibrosis. Here we describe a 12 years boy who presented with hepatic encephalopathy. He was subsequently found to have marked developmental delay, bilateral ptosis and ataxia. CT scan revealed brain stem molar tooth sign, ophthalmoscopy showed optic disc coloboma and elastography showed hepatic fibrosis to confirm him as a case of COACH Syndrome.

UNLABELLED: Pruritus is a common complication of cholestatic liver diseases or liver graft dysfunction. Current medical therapies lack efficacy. The molecular adsorbent recirculating system (MARS) represents an interesting therapeutic option. When bile duct obstruction is ruled out newly developed icterus is mainly caused by infection with hepatotropic viruses, autoimmune hepatitis or drug induced hepatopathy. We report on a 30 year old previously healthy patient with cholestatic hepatitis which was caused by infection with Treponema pallidum. OBJECTIVE: To discuss the way of animal model building of hepaticocholedochostomy (HC) and hepaticojejunostomy (HJ) and to compare the short-term effect.
METHODS: Twenty-nine dogs were divided randomly into control group (n=5) and the experimental group (stenosis of left hepatic duct, n=24). After 7 weeks of stenosis of left hepatic duct, 24 dogs in the experimental group were divided randomly into HC subgroup (n=12) and HJ subgroup (n=12). Intrahepatic primary lithiasis is extremely rare in the Western world. The development of endoscopic technique permitted a conservative treatment for this disease. Because of the high recurrence rate after conservative treatment due to the remaining biliary stricture and the risk of incidental cholangiocarcinoma, we believe that hepatic resection is the treatment of choice of unilateral liver intrahepatic primary lithiasis. Herein we present a case affected with intrahepatic primary lithiasis localized into the left biliary system that successfully underwent left hepatic lobectomy.
