BACKGROUND: Access to effective surgical treatments such as breast reduction is often restricted on the grounds of patient obesity. However, there is a lack of unambiguous data on the surgical risks of obesity in patients undergoing breast reduction. We present a case of a 22-year-old female with nasal collapse secondary to Wegener's Granulomatosis who has benefited from Restylane® injection use to improve cosmesis whilst awaiting formal nasal reconstruction. There are several publications in the otolaryngology and plastic and reconstructive surgery literature in the United States literature which describe this technique but we are not aware of any similar publications in the UK literature.

OBJECTIVE: This systematic review was initiated to explore the critical horizontal interproximal and buccal bone dimensions around implants for an optimal aesthetic outcome.

Effects of averageness and symmetry on the judgment of facial attractiveness were investigated using a generalized Procrustes method and multiple regression analyses. Participants (n=114) rated attractiveness of 96 photographs of faces with neutral expressions. BACKGROUND: Neck dissection to remove cervical lymph nodes is common practice in head and neck cancer management. The marginal mandibular nerve may be injured during neck dissection, particularly of level 1. The rate of injury to this nerve is underreported in the literature and its impact on patients is not well defined.
METHODS: An observational study was undertaken on patients who had undergone neck dissection over a 5-year period. The patients were examined for weakness and given a questionnaire related their perception of their appearance and their function.

OBJECTIVE: Anterior mandibular arch reconstruction.
PATIENT AND METHOD: A 55-year-old immuno-depressed female underwent resection of the lower third of the face subsequent to extensive mucormycosis-related necrosis. Reconstruction of the anterior part of the mandible and adjacent soft tissue was carried out with a mandibular prosthesis and a latissimus dorsi flap. The mandibular prosthesis was made of titanium T40 micro-beads, consolidated by two parallel plates of titanium. The porous structure is intended to enhance cellular and bone integration.

Gynaecomastia reduction surgery is a common male cosmetic procedure. Our clinical experience suggested far lower rates of satisfaction than previously reported. Therefore we evaluated our patient group using a detailed questionnaire designed specifically to assess patient satisfaction with breast attributes and quality-of-life outcome following surgery. BACKGROUND: Leiomyoma of the nipple and areola is a rare benign neoplasm. We report the case of a patient with leiomyoma of the nipple presenting as a hyperkeratotic plaque.
OBSERVATION: A 23-year-old patient presented with a five year history of a papillomatous, hyperkeratotic, painful plaque originating in her right nipple. Histological examination of a punch biopsy showed hyperkeratosis of the epidermis with dilatation of the lymphatic vessels within the dermis. Surgical excision revealed a proliferation of smooth muscle fibres, leading to diagnosis of leiomyoma.

We present two patients with post-traumatic mandibular asymmetry, caused by flaring of a fragment containing the mandibular angle in between two fractures. No occlusal disturbance was evident in either case. Instead of refracturing or ramus osteotomies, the asymmetry was corrected by transoral ostectomy of the mandibular angle with good aesthetic results.
