Porcine placenta peptides as a complementary functional food for skin rejuvenation: A 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.

Skin aging is characterized by the deterioration of collagen and elastin in the dermis, leading to wrinkles, dryness, and pigmentation irregularities. Porcine placenta peptides (Placenderm®, hereinafter PPP), a bioactive ingredient commonly used in complementary functional foods and rich in collagen and growth factors, have demonstrated regenerative properties that may counteract these aging effects. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial aimed to evaluate the efficacy of oral PPP supplementation in improving signs of skin aging. Ninety participants aged 35-60 with dry skin an…

Advancing antisense oligonucleotide delivery through click chemistry based chemical conjugation with designed short non-cationic peptides for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a fatal X-linked neuromuscular disease caused by frame shift mutations in the gene encoding dystrophin. 2́-O-methyl phosphorothioate (2'-OMePS) serves as an antisense RNA platform clinically used in DMD patients to facilitate exon skipping and production of an internally truncated, yet functional dystrophin protein. Effective delivery and uptake of antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) by target cells are crucial for their efficacy. Peptide-conjugated ASOs offer a promising next-generation platform, where a cell-penetrating peptide (CPP) is linked to the 2'-OMe

Bispecific self-assembled peptides as supra-growth factors for preventing endotheliopathy and improving survival of traumatic brain injury in mice.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) causes endothelial injury (endotheliopathy), which contributes to a cascade of adverse events, including cerebral hemorrhage, edema and acute lung injury (ALI), and leads to poor clinical outcomes. Protecting endothelial integrity and targeting cerebral endothelium is therefore critical for preventing secondary cerebral injuries from TBI. However, effective treatment strategies in the clinic remain lacking. Here, we report a nanofiber of bispecific self-assembled peptide (BsSA) as a supra-growth factor that possesses multiple functions, such as binding to the blood
