We describe a case illustrating a new technique of using intraoperative optical coherence tomography (IOCT) for foreign body removal from the limbus and cornea. In this case, fragments of a fish hook in the temporal limbus and cornea were identified on the OCT. The residual pieces were then removed, assisted by high-resolution, real-time cross-sectional imaging, IOCT. While this technique involves steep learning curve, we believe that it is safe for the patient and helps surgeon with instant decision making and reduce orbital manipulation.

The choroidal osteoma is a typically unilateral, benign ossifying tumor of the choroid. It is mostly located in the juxtapapillary area and usually found in females in the second or third decade of life. Most patients are asymptomatic. However, some can present with blurred vision, metamorphopsia, and visual field defects. Ultrasonography can show a calcified choroidal plaque with a typical shadowing posterior to the lesion. Fluorescein angiography and optical coherence tomography should be used if choroidal neovascularization is suspected as a possible complication of the choroidal osteoma.

This case report describes a 74-year-old woman who developed a crystalline retinopathy following intravitreal injection of clindamycin. The patient presented with ocular toxoplasmosis in the left eye but was allergic to sulfa medications, so she was treated with intravitreal clindamycin. Subsequently, fine refractile yellow-white crystals were observed on examination of the left macula. Optical coherence tomography localized the crystals to the posterior hyaloid. We present a case of Purtscher-like retinopathy (PLR) following carotid angioplasty and stenting (CAS). A 56-year-old man with a history of severe stenosis of the left carotid artery and treated by CAS refers acute and painless visual loss on the left eye (OS) 48 h after the procedure. Funduscopic examination showed cotton wool spots and intraretinal hemorrhages confined to the peripapillary and posterior pole of the OS. The optical coherence tomography (OCT) showed retinal thickening and hyperintense lesions in the inner nuclear layer retina.

A 32-year-old Asian-Indian woman presented with painless diminution of vision in her left eye (oculus sinister (OS)) and fundus examination OS revealed a large dome-shaped orangish-red subretinal lesion at the macula along with a smaller lesion on the superotemporal arcade. Indocyanine green angiography and optical coherence tomography features confirmed the diagnosis of multifocal circumscribed choroidal hemangioma (CCH). There was no evidence of Sturge-Weber syndrome. CCH is usually solitary with only one reported case of multifocal CCH in the literature.

Ocular cysticercosis could involve subconjunctival space, anterior chamber, extraocular muscle, subretinal space, or vitreous. The presence of intraocular live cyst is a potential threat to visual acuity. The removal of the cyst in-toto is thus of importance to prevent inflammatory reaction and ocular damage. The presence of cysticercosis underneath the macula makes the management challenging. Herein, we describe the management of a submacular live cysticercus cyst with a good postoperative gain in visual acuity. Also, the swept-source optical coherence tomography changes are described.

An 83-year-old man presented with a 10-day history of decreased vision in the left eye. He was found to have choroidal metastases from lung adenocarcinoma that exhibited unilateral septated cavitary subretinal fluid on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT). This fluid evolved into atypical lamellar sheets after treatment with systemic chemotherapy and orbital radiation prior to resolution. This is the first description demonstrating cavitary subretinal fluid pockets on spectral-domain OCT from lung cancer; attention is given to its unusual course and proposed pathogenesis.
