PURPOSE: Many patients receiving fractionated radiotherapy (RT) for head-and-neck cancer have marked anatomic changes during their course of treatment, including shrinking of the primary tumor or nodal masses, resolving postoperative changes/edema, and changes in overall body habitus/weight loss. HS-599 is a didehydroderivative of buprenorphine that displays high affinity and good selectivity for mu-opioid receptors. We studied its antinociceptive properties after s.c. injection in mice with the tail-flick and hot-plate tests. Two novel Brucella abortus proteins were isolated from B. abortus strain RB51 and their immunological properties were determined. The effects of trichloroethylene (TCE) administration on aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) and cytochrome P450 isozymes were studied in rats and compared with those of methanol.
