OBJECTIVE: To report efficacy and tolerance of interleukin 1 blockade in adult patients with mevalonate kinase deficiency (MKD).
METHODS: We retrospectively collected data on 13 patients with MKD who had received anakinra (n = 10) and canakinumab (n = 7).
RESULTS: Anakinra resulted in complete or partial remission in 3/10 and 5/10 patients, respectively, and no efficacy in 2/10, but a switch to canakinumab led to partial remission. Canakinumab resulted in complete or partial remission in 3/7 and 4/7 patients, respectively.

Since acne vulgaris is the combined result of a bacterial infection and the inflammatory response to that infection, we examined whether Abies koreana essential oil (AKE) possessed anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities against skin pathogens. In this study, AKE showed excellent antibacterial activities against drug-susceptible and -resistant Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis, which are acne-causing bacteria. We report three cases of multicentric Castleman's disease (MCD) successfully treated with anti-interleukin-6 receptor antibody (tocilizumab). Tocilizumab was administered intravenously at a dose of 8 mg/kg every 2 weeks. In each case, tocilizumab alleviated symptoms, including generalized fatigue, pyrexia, and alleviated biochemical abnormalities, including anemia, hypoalbuminemia, hypergammaglobulinemia, and increased C-reactive protein (CRP). A case of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) was reported. A 56-year-old woman was admitted because of high fever and systemic lymphademopathy. We report here a case of acute polymyositis associated with a Ki-1 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). This anaplastic large cell malignant lymphoma was a primary T-cell NHL lymphoma of the bone marrow. SARS-CoV-2 infections in children occasionally manifest with severe neurologic signs. We report a case series of life-threatening encephalopathy associated with SARS-CoV-2 in 25 children in Australia, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan during February 2022-January 2024. All children had severe encephalopathy develop, characterized by rapidly progressive cerebral edema, conditions known as acute shock with encephalopathy and multiorgan failure or acute fulminant cerebral edema.
