The aim of this study was to investigate endoscopically and histologically rectal mucosa complications in bilharzia patients. Coprology using KATO's technique was carried out in 1406 school children aged 4 to 18 years. 134 (9.53%) were infested. Among the infested school children and the sample population, a random selection of 80 school children (40 infested and 40 of sample population) was made, in whom rectoscopy and biopsy of rectal mucosa were carried out. Clinically suspected scaphoid fractures are common injuries. The authors prospectively followed up, by serial radiography and bone scanning, 23 patients who had a history of trauma to the carpus and associated localized tenderness to the anatomic "snuff box": in 15 patients the radiographs and bone scans were negative; in 5 the radiograph was equivocal and the bone scan positive. Iliotibial band syndrome was diagnosed in 48 of 1030 runners treated for lower extremity musculoskeletal complaints. Most athletes had been running 20 to 40 miles a week for one year or longer and had significantly changed their distance, speed, terrain, surface, and/or shoes before the onset of symptoms. Symptoms often persisted for 2 to 6 months. All runners were treated conservatively with rest, stretching, reduced distance, anti-inflammatory medications, local cortisone injections and/or orthoses.

Preferences for gynecological examiners are studied in a cervical cancer screening program. Sex appears to be a more important factor in preference than the professional level of the examiner. Female health professionals were preferred by a majority of patients; the distinction between physicians and nurse practitioners was a much less important factor. Female examiners were particularly important to low-income and Mexican-American participants, and to women who were reluctant to participate in screening programs.

This paper presents data on the incidence and clinical spectrum of lymphadenopathy, then offers guidelines for clinical decision making in regard to this problem. Eighty cases were identified and reviewed, for an annual incidence of 0.5% in the study population. Most (70%) cases were discovered by patients themselves. A group of adult patients with acute nontraumatic monoarticular arthritis was studied. Using only the traditional clinical tools of history, physical examination, joint x-ray films, and synovial fluid culture, Gram's stain, and examination for crystals, 74% of the diagnoses made were achieved either immediately or within two to three days. Between January, 1965, and December, 1975, 204 patients (138 men and 66 women) underwent aortoiliac reconstruction for atherosclerotic occlusive disease.
