The authors have been using an argon laser at the Department of Dermatology of Pécs Medical University School for two years. They summarise their cosmetically good therapeutical effects on the 373 patients treated with different dermatological diseases. They refer to that the different laser instruments have their own indications, in well defined diagnoses, but slight coincidences are known. After the correct diagnose and so the correctly chosen type of the laser instrument good result could be reached.

This study aimed to determine the diagnostic utility of mast cell densities in distinguishing neurotised ("neural") melanocytic naevi from neurofibromas. Three groups of lesions were studied: neurofibromas, neural naevi, and naevi showing no neural change (control naevi). A Giemsa stain was used to demonstrate mast cells. Marginal defects of the eyelid were repaired using skin-muscle-mucosa composite grafts from the lower lip without cartilage support in 2 patients. The method is a simple one-stage procedure and takes little time to perform. Because of the wide contact between the grafts and the recipient sites, grafting was successful. Texture and color match is not too problematic in elderly persons.

A 10-year-old black girl with a severe hypersensitivity reaction to phenytoin is described. Adverse effects included interstitial nephritis, hepatitis, and toxic epidermal necrolysis. An apparently permanent sequela of universal cutaneous depigmentation developed. Although the presence of clear cells in the basal layer of the epidermis suggested that melanocytes might still be present, these clear cells were shown, by electron microscopy, to be Langerhans cells and not melanocytes. This patient demonstrates a unique outcome, not previously described in the literature.
