Topical 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) has been used for the treatment of dermatological conditions for nearly half a century. Although the indications for 5-FU approved by the US Food and Drug Administration include actinic keratosis and superficial basal cell carcinoma, studies also have demonstrated therapeutic efficacy for 5-FU in the treatment of many other dermatological conditions, including squamous cell carcinoma in situ, warts, psoriasis of the nail, keratoacanthoma, and vitiligo. This review discusses clinical data which support the use of 5-FU for these disease states.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate a topical treatment based on silymarin/methylsulfonilmethane (S-MSM) to improve erythematous-telangiectactic rosacea.
METHODS: Forty-six patients affected by stage I-III rosacea entered this double-blind, placebo-controlled study. Subjects were treated for 1 month. Clinical and instrumental evaluations were done at baseline, after 10 and 20 days, and at the end of the study. PURPOSE: To assess the efficacy and long-term results of Ethibloc treatment in aneurysmal bone cysts (ABC).
METHODS: Thirteen patients with ABC were treated with direct percutaneous Ethibloc injection. Four patients had only one injection and the other nine patients from two to four injections. We have treated 10 patients with relapsed or refractory T-cell malignancies using gemcitabine. The drug was administered intravenously over 30 min at a dose of 1200 mg/m2 on d 1, 8 and 15 of each 28-d cycle.
