Quorum-sensing (QS) systems play a crucial role in regulating virulence, biofilm formation, and antibiotic resistance in clinically relevant microbes. This review explores the potential of QS systems as targets for developing novel plant-based therapeutic strategies using bioinformatics, aimed at combating highly pathogenic bacteria: uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The patient was a 53-year-old man with a history of recurrent sputum. An anomalous systemic arterial supply to the basal segment of the left lung with an aneurysm of the aberrant artery detected on three-dimensional computed tomography angiography. Before left lower pulmonary lobectomy and aberrant artery resection, thoracic endovascular aortic repair was performed to block the blood flow to the aberrant artery aneurysm. Prior blockade of the blood flow to the aneurysm minimized the risk of aneurysm rupture and bleeding during lobectomy, yielding a good postoperative outcome.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in children is relatively uncommon, especially in the absence of syndromes or hereditary diseases. Duplex kidney - as a common congenital anomalies in children - is usually insignificant with no serious impact or known risk of tumor association. Herein, we report a 5-year-old girl who presented with gross hematuria and a right renal mass in duplex system identified on computed tomography. Radical nephrectomy was performed; the patient was diagnosed with Xp11 translocation RCC and no other modalities of treatments were needed over 3-month follow-up.

Supraorbital rim fracture is a rare sports-related injury encountered by craniofacial specialty and great challenge to the surgeons because of their anatomical location and relation with vital structures in close relation. Currently, in the literature, no classification system or treatment protocol exists for the supraorbital rim fracture. Supraorbital rim fracture forms a small proportion of sports-related injuries. Insect metamorphosis involves a complex change in form and function. In this study, we examined the development of the solitary bee, Megachile rotundata, using micro-computed tomography (μCT) and volume analysis. We describe volumetric changes of brain, tracheae, flight muscles, gut, and fat bodies in prepupal, pupal, and adult M. rotundata. We observed that individual organ systems have distinct patterns of developmental progression, which vary in their timing and duration. This has important implications for commercial management of this agriculturally relevant pollinator.

A 40-year-old man was hospitalized in the coronary care unit with chest pain and abnormal electrocardiogram. Twenty days earlier, the patient underwent laparoscopic gallbladder surgery. Due to chest pain and ischemic ECG changes, patient was subjected to coronary angiography. The selective coronary angiography revealed multiple multilateral fistulae arising from the left anterior descending artery, circumflex artery, and the right coronary artery draining to the left ventricle.
