INTRODUCTION: Mucolipidosis type II (MLII) is a lysosomal storage disease causing systemic deposition of mucopolysaccharides. We describe imaging and bronchoscopy findings not previously reported in the literature in a child with MLII.
CASE: A 9-year-old with MLII s/p hematopoietic stem-cell transplant (HSCT), bronchiectasis, and aspiration presented with recurrent respiratory illnesses. Bronchoscopy and chest computed tomography were performed, showing a saber-sheath trachea with fixed narrowing and curvature.

We report the first portable upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs)-based paper device for road-side field testing of cocaine. Upon the recognition of cocaine by two pieces of rationally designed aptamer fragments, the luminescence of UCNPs immobilized on the paper is quenched by Au nanoparticles (AuNPs), which indicates the cocaine concentration. This device can give quantitative results in a short time with high sensitivity using only a smartphone as the apparatus. Twelve patients (17 feet) with progressive neuromuscular planovalgus foot deformity underwent an extra-articular subtalar arthrodesis with the combined Batchelor-Grice procedure. The effect of sulfhydryl reagents on macroscopic inactivation of A-current in internally perfused Lymnaea neurons under voltage-clamp conditions was investigated. It was found that the binding of Hg2+ rather than PHMB with channel proteins resulted in a strong decrease of the peak current and the inactivation rate. Teflon is commonly used to adduct immobile vocal cords in cases of unilateral recurrent nerve paralysis. However, its use can lead to considerable chronic inflammation at the site of the injection. Since Teflon is not encapsulated, particles can also be carried off and disseminated through the lymphatic system. A lectin in gluten was detected by agglutination of papain-treated human erythrocytes. A partially purified lectin preparation was obtained by chromatography on immobilized ovalbumin. This fraction showed the same sugar specificity as wheat germ agglutinin (WGA).
