OBJECTIVE: To assess whether a 2 days training with experts teaching on diagnosis and repair of perineal injuries among Palestinian midwives and physicians could change their level of knowledge towards the correct diagnosis and treatment.
STUDY DESIGN: Multicentre observational study.
SETTING: Obstetric departments in 6 government Palestinian hospitals.

BACKGROUND: Surgical site infection is a major contributor to increased mortality and health care costs globally which can be reduced by appropriate antibiotic prophylactic use. In Palestine, there is no published data about preoperative antibiotic use. This study aims to find the pattern of antimicrobial prophylaxis use by evaluating time of the first dose, antibiotic selection and duration after surgery in three governmental hospitals in North West Bank/ Palestine during 2011.

The objective of this study was to describe epidemiological and clinical features of Takayasu's arteritis (TA) among Arab populations and to compare it to other populations. An outbreak of suspected malignant catarrhal fever (MCF) was investigated by molecular and histopathological assays. Of the 70 Holstein beef calf herds, 14 were affected by multiple clinical signs suggestive of MCF infection. These beef calves were housed next to sheep flocks. 156 injuries by a stepladder are reported. In the whole of plunge injuries occurred with a stepladder we found 12%. The painters are involved in 34.6% in this kind of accident, apprentices in 5.8%. Most people were aged from 20-24 and the lower limb was more often injured than the upper limb. Fractures were present in 24% and we registered 48.8 days in which workers were unfit to work. Most patients (95.2%) obtained total rehabilitation.

143 cases of total gastrectomy in cancer of the stomach from 1961 to 1976 are reported. A satisfactory function is observed in long living patients having a substitute stomach formation ("Ringplastik") as well as in those having been operated according to the method of Graham.
