EARLY ILEOCECAL RESECTION IN CROHN'S DISEASE: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW.

BACKGROUND: The approval of new therapies has led to an increasing trend toward the use of various combinations of medications in Crohn's disease (CD) management. However, patients with ileocecal CD may still require surgery in up to 80% of cases. OBJECTIVES: To analyze the literature and synthesize the data qualitatively to evaluate the outcomes of early surgery compared to drug therapy in patients with ileocecal CD, focusing on both adult and pediatric populations. METHODS: Studies were selected through an electronic search of the PUBMED database, following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting

The Bullhorn and Beyond: Evidence-Based Review and Clinical Recommendations for Lip Lift Techniques.

BACKGROUND: The upper lip plays a central role in facial harmony and youthful appearance. Aging-related changes include elongation of the philtrum, thinning of the vermilion, and reduced maxillary incisor show. Surgical lip lift shortens the cutaneous upper lip and enhances vermilion exposure, yet patient selection and outcome assessment remain non-standardized. OBJECTIVES: To critically evaluate current evidence on surgical lip lift techniques, including the classical subnasal bullhorn approach and its modifications, and to provide evidence-based recommendations for anatomy-driven technique

Addressing unmet needs in rare diseases: A patient-centred vision through INFORM-RD.

Rare diseases collectively affect approximately 6% of the global population, yet 95% of affected individuals lack access to effective treatments. Beyond this persistent therapeutic gap, patients and caregivers face a broad spectrum of unmet needs, spanning psychosocial challenges, access to reliable diagnostic information, care coordination, and long-term follow-up, which remain poorly characterised in both clinical and policy contexts. Three interrelated challenges underpin this problem. First, validated instruments capable of systematically capturing unmet needs across diverse patient groups

Understanding Child-to-Child Harm: A National Analysis of Child Protection Responses.

Children may experience harm in diverse family contexts, including circumstances in which other young household members engage in harmful behaviors toward them. Despite child-initiated harm being prevalent and causing significant developmental impacts, these cases present unique challenges for recognition in current legal frameworks designed for adult perpetrators. This study examined patterns in substantiated reports involving children who harmed other children (CHOC) using National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System administrative data from 2018 to 2019. We documented state statutory and po

Outcome Reporting in Distal Radius Fracture Research: A Systematic Review Across Treatment Modalities.

Distal radius fractures (DRFs) are among the most common adult fractures, yet outcome reporting across studies remains inconsistent. Variability in assessed domains, measurement tools, and follow-up timing limits evidence synthesis and hinders standardized, patient-centered care. We systematically reviewed 179 English-language clinical studies evaluating DRF management across 5 treatment categories: casting, surgical intervention, physical therapy, pharmacotherapy, and operative versus nonoperative comparison. Data were extracted on study characteristics, outcome domains, measurement tools, an

Navigating Through the Caregiving Trajectory: A Qualitative Interview Study on the Challenges Encountered by Primary Caregivers When Caring for Adolescents Living with HIV.

Background/Objectives: Children and adolescents living with HIV (ALHIV) are among the most vulnerable groups affected by HIV and AIDS. Their vulnerability exposes them to several challenges, such as HIV-related stigma and/or interrupted academic activities due to health-related complications. Since they are still minors who cannot independently make decisions regarding their own lives, most of the challenges extend to their caregivers, who sometimes provide care and support under difficult psychological, social, and economic conditions. This study aimed to explore the lived experiences and cha
