Decoding flavor evolution during refining of DHA-rich Schizochytrium oil: a multidimensional framework integrating sensory evaluation and volatile metabolomics.

The influence of refining conditions on flavor evolution of Schizochytrium oil remained unclear. Crude oil exhibited strong fishy and sour odors, with 3-octen-2-one and 5-ethyl-2(5H)-furanone as key off-flavor contributors. Degumming and deacidification marginally improved these odors, while decolorization paradoxically intensified fishiness by selective removal of masking compounds. Deodorization was critical: 170 °C had limited effects; optimal performance at 190 °C/30 min largely eliminated off-flavors and allowed a mild pleasant aroma to emerge. Under this condition, eight volatile metabol

L-Type Voltage-Gated Ca2+ Channels Are Targeted by Terpenes from Hyptis crenata Essential Oil in Vascular Electromechanical Coupling.

BACKGROUND: Electromechanical coupling is a fundamental process in the regulation of vascular smooth muscle contraction. It is characterized by changes in electrical potential membrane (depolarization). Voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs) play a central role in this process by mediating calcium influx necessary for vascular contraction. As highly conserved macromolecules in mammals, VGCCs represent translationally relevant targets for the development of vasorelaxant agents. Inhibition of these channels reduces calcium influx and attenuates the tonic smooth muscle contraction, making them st

Chemo-enzymatic synthesis, in vitro antioxidant activities and positive effects on oil-in-water emulsion Stabilization of phenolic acid-esterified phosphatidylcholines.

The industrial application of phenolic acids (PAs) is significantly limited by their low solubility and poor bioavailability in lipid-rich systems. Lipophilization via esterification of PAs with lipid matrices offers a promising approach to address these challenges. In this study, an efficient lipase-chemical catalytic method was developed for synthesizing phenolic acid-esterified phosphatidylcholines (PA-EPCs) from PAs and phosphatidylcholine (PC). Three derivatives-caffeic acid-esterified phosphatidylcholines (CA-EPC), ferulic acid-esterified phosphatidylcholines (FA-EPC), and p-hydroxycinna

CBD-rich oil nanoemulsion mitigates long-term testicular and endocrine toxicity induced by prenatal valproic acid exposure in rats.

Valproic acid is a widely used antiepileptic drug and a recognized model of developmental reproductive toxicity, as exposure during critical periods of testicular development can lead to persistent endocrine and reproductive dysfunction in adulthood. Cannabidiol (CBD) has therapeutic potential in several pathological conditions but exhibits low oral bioavailability due to its lipophilic nature. This study evaluated whether chronic treatment with a CBD-rich corn oil nanoemulsion could attenuate long-term testicular and endocrine alterations induced by prenatal valproic acid exposure in rats. Sea buckthorn pulp oil modulates MAFLD through lipid reprogramming and inflammatory resolution: insights from integrated omics analysis.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), the most prevalent chronic liver disorder, can progress to hepatic fibrosis and directly determine patients' long-term prognosis. Sea buckthorn pulp oil (SBO) is rich in bioactive lipids, yet its lipid profile and potential mechanisms underlying its amelioration of MAFLD-related liver injury remain elusive. Targeted lipidomics identified abundant palmitoleic acid-containing lipids in SBO, which significantly alleviated inflammation, hepatic steatosis, and glucose dysregulation, and inhibited abnormal collagen deposition and α-SMA ex

Fish oil-derived fatty acids during pregnancy and risk of neurodevelopmental disorders in children at age 10 - A randomized controlled trial.

Fish oil-derived omega-3 fatty acids (ꙍ-3 FA), particularly docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), are critical for early brain development, but evidence of causal effects from supplementation during pregnancy is limited. In the prospective COPSAC2010 cohort of 700 mother-child pairs, we investigated whether i) maternal DHA + EPA blood concentrations in mid-pregnancy and ii) fish oil supplementation in a randomized trial in late pregnancy influence neurodevelopmental outcomes at age 10. Maternal blood DHA + EPA concentrations were measured at 24 weeks gestation, followed b
