We report a case of symptomatic extracranial vertebral artery stenosis after radiation therapy. This 49-year-old female received radiation therapy to the neck for nasopharyngeal carcinoma 11 years earlier, was admitted because of continuous dizziness and a floating sensation. Magnetic resonanse imaging showed no abnormalities, but an aortography demonstrated complete occlusion of the right common carotid artery as well as occlusion of the right vertebral artery and severe stenosis of the left vertebral artery at its origin, which was presumed to be the result of previous radiation therapy. Within the years 1989-1999, 44 hypopharynx carcinoma operations were held. Five patients have been selected for anterior wall esophagus reconstruction with anterior part of larynx. Eighteen women aged 12 to 20 years with congenital cervicovaginal atresia were treated with a new technique of surgical canalization. All are now having regular menses. Two pregnancies have been achieved, with delivery of viable neonates. Surgical correction of this anomaly during adolescence may aid in restoration of menstrual and reproductive function.

This is a retrospective review of 6 patients treated for lacrimal duct injuries between December 1994 and October 1997. Four patients had inferior canalicular lacerations, one had a superior laceration, and one had a combined inferior and superior laceration. Porous collagen-glycosaminoglycan (PCG) membranes with a porous silicone elastomer coating have been useful as a scaffold for dermal replacement in burn victims. Critical physicochemical parameters of these membranes include pore size, cross-link density, the percentage of glycosaminoglycan, and the degree of banding of the collagen. These factors govern the immunobiological response. Optimizing these parameters can reduce inflammation, scarring, and contraction of wounds grafted with PCG membranes. An essential requisite for successful ear surgery is a patent external ear. A number of anatomic variants or abnormalities may obstruct its lumen, resulting in conductive hearing loss, hampering access for routine ear cleansing, or obscuring underlying pathology.
