Reconstruction of the auricle is known to be complex. Our objective was to evaluate the improvement of the outcome of the lobulus-type microtia reconstruction. Patient satisfaction was also evaluated. There are no previous reports of the learning process in this field. PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to assess whether eye dominance may change after cataract surgery.
METHODS: This is a prospective case series. Cataract surgery candidates were examined prior to surgery for best-corrected visual acuity, eye dominance, and handedness. Patients with ocular conditions that may affect visual acuity were excluded from the study. A month following surgery, best-corrected visual acuity and eye dominance examinations were repeated.

A 57-year old woman presented with a 18-month history of a vertex lesion. The first excisional biopsy showed an histopathology dermal proliferation of epithelioid splinded cells, arranged in nests or trabeculae, suggesting a tumoral pathology such as sarcoma or melanoma, without a definitive diagnosis. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), a common sequela of acute or chronic cutaneous inflammation, is an acquired pigmentary disorder. The main treatments for PIH, such as topical agents, photoprotection, and chemical peeling, demonstrated different efficacies with inconsistent outcomes. Here, we reported a case of nasal PIH treated using a 755-nm alexandrite picosecond laser. The patient (female, aged 36 years) presented with a brown macula on the left side of the nasal dorsum 2 years ago, received treatment, and was followed up in the Plastic Surgery Department of Beijing hospital.

Infection after reconstructive surgery for microtia is a technical challenge. This can be a sign of cholesteatoma formation by entrapment of epithelium in the middle or outer ear, specifically when the patient does not respond to first choice antibiotic therapy and debridement.
