BACKGROUND: Parkinson's disease (PD) is the result of progressive degeneration of the nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathway and depletion of neurotransmitter dopamine in the striatum.
METHODS: We included 17 patients with PD along with 7 patients of progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), 6 patients of multiple system atrophy (MSA) and 22 age and sex-matched healthy controls. We analyzed metabolite profiles in the serum of these patients and controls using 1H NMR spectroscopy.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of xiaomi granules (XMG) for treatment of HIV/AIDS oral candidiasis.
METHODS: Forty patients in the treated group were treated by XMG and 40 patients in the control group were treated with anticandine. The therapeutic course for both groups was two weeks. We tested the efficacy of two formulations of isometamidium in a tsetse-infested farm in North Cameroon from 20 August 2000 to 5 January 2001. A total of 90 adult cattle were used in three groups of 30 each corresponding to two treated and one untreated control.
