Clinical target volume (CTV) delineation is crucial for tumor control and normal tissue protection. This study aimed to define the locoregional extension patterns of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and to improve CTV delineation. Magnetic resonance imaging scans of 2366 newly diagnosed NPC patients were reviewed. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of sunitinib on localized bladder cancer in a mouse orthotopic bladder tumor model.
METHODS: We used an established orthotopic mouse bladder cancer model in syngeneic C3H/He mice. Treatment doses of 40 mg/kg of sunitinib or placebo sterile saline were administrated daily by oral gavage. Tumor volume, intratumoral perfusion, and in vivo vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 expression were measured using a targeted contrast-enhanced micro-ultrasound imaging system. The findings were correlated with the total bladder weight, tumor stage, and survival.

We report a very unusual association of an invasive lobular carcinoma with metaplastic squamous cell carcinoma of the breast which was found not only in a mastectomy specimen but also in the axillary lymph nodes. A 66-year-old male presented with gross hematuria and acute renal failure secondary to bilateral ureteral obstruction. Further work-up revealed muscle invasive urothelial carcinoma. Pathologic examination following radical cystoprostatectomy revealed high grade urothelial carcinoma with focal tumor-associated stromal osseous metaplasia. Reactive bone formation within urothelial carcinoma is a very rare clinical entity. Although typically benign, the presence of mature bone elements warrants thorough examination for sarcomatoid components.

OBJECT: Fluorescence-guided surgery using 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) has been broadly recognized as a beneficial tool for the resection of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Fluorescence in the ventricular walls, which were apparently free of macroscopic tumor or MR imaging enhancement indicative of CSF dissemination, was detected during surgery for GBM. OBJECTIVES: The paraglottic space and cricoid area of the larynx are made up of loose, areolar tissue composed of loose elastic and collagenous fibres and adipose tissue. They contain the main blood vessels of the larynx. We examined the correlation between the histopathological extension of glottic carcinoma into the paraglottic space or cricoid area and the development of cervical lymph node metastasis.
