Primary lymphoma of the lung is a rare entity. Clinical features, optimal treatment, role of surgery and outcomes are not well defined, and the follow-up is variable in published data. Clinical data of 205 patients who were confirmed to have bronchus mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma from December 1986 to December 2011 in 17 different centres worldwide were evaluated. INTRODUCTION: Bortezomib is a selective inhibitor of the proteosoma that is used in multiple myeloma. In combination with other antineoplastic drugs, it has a well-documented impact in progression-free survival rates and overall survival rates with standard doses (1.3-1.5 mg/m(2)). The occurrence of varicella zoster virus (VZV) reactivation is increased after allogeneic transplantation, whereas limited data are available for herpes zoster (HZ) after autologous SCT (ASCT). We determined the incidence and the prognostic significance of HZ and its correlation with VZV serology in 191 consecutive myeloma patients undergoing high-dose melphalan chemotherapy with ASCT. OBJECTIVE: To determine whether intra-operative radiation therapy (IORT) at the time of pelvic exenteration (PE) or laterally extended endopelvic resection (LEER) improves progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with recurrent, previously irradiated gynecologic cancers.
METHODS: We conducted a single institution retrospective review of patients who had undergone a complete PE for locally recurrent gynecologic cancer. Demographic and clinicopathologic data were collected.
RESULTS: 32 patients were identified (2000-2012); 21 (66%) cervical cancer, 8 (25%) vaginal, and 3 (9%) vulvar cancer.

BACKGROUND: The protective effect of the liver allograft when simultaneously transplanted with a kidney in the setting of allosensitization is unclear.
METHODS: We analyzed the significance of sensitization, defined based on positive cytotoxicity crossmatches, positive flow cytometry crossmatches, and/or the presence of high levels of donor-specific antibodies, on the outcomes of simultaneous liver and kidney (SLK) transplantation. BACKGROUND: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are rare tumors of the gastrointestinal system. The most common primary site of GIST is the stomach. The treatment is primarily surgery, and the standard medical therapy is imatinib. Long-term survival can be obtained with good follow-up and treatment.
