There is no definitive evidence on the extent of SARS-CoV-2's effect on the retina. This study aims to determine if the natural history of SARS-CoV-2 infection affects tomographic findings in the retina of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. This is a prospective cohort study of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 pneumonia. The patients underwent ophthalmological explorations and optical coherence tomography during the acute phase of the infection and at a follow-up 12 weeks later. The primary outcomes were the central retinal thickness and central choroidal thickness, which were compared longi

PURPOSE: To report a new photographic macular feature identified on multimodal imaging in eyes with silicone oil in situ.
METHODS: Retrospective, observational case series of three eyes of three patients.
RESULTS: Two eyes had undergone initial vitrectomy for vitreous hemorrhage with fibrovascular membranes causing tractional retinal detachments secondary to retinovascular occlusion. One eye had further vitrectomy for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment complicated with proliferative vitreoretinopathy. All three eyes had multiple, discrete, coarse, hyperreflective deposits at the silicone oil-

Automated layer segmentation plays an important role for retinal disease diagnosis in optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. However, the severe retinal diseases result in the performance degeneration of automated layer segmentation approaches. In this paper, we present a robust semi-supervised layer segmentation network to relieve the model failures on abnormal retinas. We obtain the lesion features from the labeled images with disease-balanced distribution, and utilize the unlabeled images to supplement the layer structure information. Specifically, in our method, the cross-consistency t

BACKGROUND: In keratoconus (KC) a progressive deformation and thinning of the cornea occurs. In contrast to Scheimpflug-based examinations, optical coherence tomography (OCT) can precisely measure the corneal layers separately, allowing separate analyses of corneal epithelial and corneal stromal thicknesses.
AIM OF THIS WORK: The aim of this work was to analyze the corneal epithelial thickness measured by optical coherence tomography (OCT) in patients with KC in comparison to the corneal epithelial thickness in healthy subjects. The diagnostic value of the observed changes was evaluated.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to report a unique case of ocular surface squamous neoplasia that masqueraded as a nonresolving toxic epithelial keratitis.
METHODS: This was a case report and review of the literature.
RESULTS: A 79-year-old man presented with decreased vision, redness, and a foreign body sensation in his right eye that was refractory to treatment with lubrication and topical nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drops. Before presentation, the referring provider believed that he had medicamentosa-related keratitis and placed him on oral methazolamide. Slitlamp biomicroscopy o

PURPOSE: To investigate the prevalence of ciliochoroidal effusion (CE) in central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) using anterior-segment optical coherence tomography and its association with the clinical features of CSC.
METHODS: Overall, 164 eyes of 164 patients with CSC and 51 eyes of 51 age- and sex-matched normal control participants were retrospectively examined. Anterior-segment optical coherence tomography was used to assess patients with CSC and control subjects for CE and scleral thickness. Central serous chorioretinopathy eyes were divided into two groups: eyes with CE (CE group) and

PURPOSE: To investigate the differences in the choroidal biomarkers between two forms of flat irregular pigment epithelial detachment (FIPED): avascular (aFIPED) and vascularized (vFIPED) in eyes with chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) was done in eyes with FIPED correlated to chronic CSC, fellow eyes, and also in healthy eyes from gender- and age-matched subjects. Eyes with FIPED were classified into two subgroups based on optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) findings: vFIPED and aFIP

PURPOSE: Magnesium-based alloy scaffold is a promising biodegradable stent due to its intrinsic mechanical performance and biocompatibility. Based on our preliminary experiments, we designed a novel sirolimus-eluting magnesium-based alloy scaffold. This work aimed to assess its safety and degradation performance in vivo.
METHODS: The scaffolds were implanted in the lower limb arteries of Bama mini-pigs. Safety was defined as no immediate thrombosis or >30% residual stenosis, which was assessed with optical coherence tomography and digital subtraction angiography. Blood biochemical analyses we

CITATION: This review's objective was to synthesize the literature on the repercussions of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in the retinal vascular system. Two independent investigators conducted a search using the MEDLINE/PubMed database using the following terms: sleep apnea syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea, retina, vascular tortuosity, central serous chorioretinopathy, diabetes mellitus, and subfoveal choroidal thickness. Patients with OSA present increased vascular tortuosity compared with patients without OSA, decreased parafoveal and peripapillary vessel density, and increased retinal vein
