Here, we report 8 Japanese patients [6 men, 2 women; median age at onset: 49.5 (range, 35-58) years] from 5 unrelated families with VCP missense mutations. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed our patients with mutations in the parkin RBR E3 ubiquitin protein ligase gene (PRKN). We collected a total of 34 patients and focused on 18 cases (14 homozygous, 4 compound heterozygous).
