The medial olivocochlear pathway, a part of the auditory efferent system, plays a role in stimulus-related control of the cochlea. One clinical tool to evaluate the medial olivocochlear activity, which is thought to improve speech perception in noise, is the suppression of otoacoustic emissions.
AIMS: This study investigated the suppression of transient evoked otoacoustic emissions in children with phonological disorder in comparison with that in typically developing controls.

The Tympanic Membrane (TM) transforms acoustic energy to ossicular vibration. The shape and the displacement of the TM play an important role in this process. We developed a High-speed Digital Holography (HDH) system to measure the shape and transient displacements of the TM induced by acoustic clicks. Tinnitus is a common auditory disease worldwide; it is estimated that more than 10% of all individuals experience this hearing disorder during their lifetime. Tinnitus is sometimes accompanied by hearing loss. However, hearing loss is not acquired in some other tinnitus generations.
