The association between cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection and the development of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) in the setting of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloSCT) has been reported only occasionally. Malignant osteopetrosis (MOP) is an autosomal recessive disease in which osteoclast dysfunction results in excessive bone deposition and early infant death. Thirteen children suffering from MOP from four related families all belonging to one Bedouin tribe, were studied. The disease was diagnosed as early as at a few days postnatal to 5 months. Forty-three patients reviewed from the literature and five cases of agranulocytosis during antibiotic therapy studied by the author are presented. Time required to develop agranulocytosis with antibiotics was < 19 days in comparison to > 40 days required with nonantibiotic drugs. Food insecurity (FI), defined as the lack of continuous access to adequate food, affects 17-55% of cancer patients. The onset of myasthenia gravis (MG) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) seriously threatens the survival of patients, since it is acute, and is prone to rapid progression. Two patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), who had undergone allo-HSCT developed shortness of breath, and gradually developed cervical weakness and dyspnea. The acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibody and neostigmine test enabled the diagnosis of MG. The condition of the patients improved after treatment with pyridostigmine bromide, glucocorticoids and rituximab.

BACKGROUND: Hematopoietic stem cell transplants (HSCT) treat malignant and nonmalignant diseases. Aplastic anemia (AA) is a rare condition associated with ineffective hematopoiesis. The first-line treatment for AA is an allogenic hemopoietic stem cell transplant (allo-HSCT). After allo-HSCT, most patients become infertile.
METHODS: This study presents 2 case reports of women who become pregnant after allo-HSCT in the treatment of severe AA. In both women, conditioning was performed using the fludarabine, cyclophosphamide, and antithyroglobulin antibodies protocol.

The current incidence, diagnostic policy, management, and outcome of VOD/SOS at EBMT centers were studied.
