Triggers, Clinical Manifestations, and Management of Pediatric Erythema Nodosum: A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Erythema nodosum (EN) is a septal panniculitis clinically characterized by bilateral erythematous tender subcutaneous nodules typically found on the shins. While recognized as the most common form of panniculitis, it is less frequently documented in children and infants. Currently, there are no established guidelines to diagnose and manage EN in children. This review aims to consolidate current data on triggers, clinical manifestations, and treatment options, and propose a management algorithm for pediatric erythema nodosum (PEN). METHODS: A systematic literature review

KLF9 Inhibits Brain Metastasis of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer by Regulating Ceramide Synthase 1 Synthesis.

The regulatory mechanisms driving brain metastasis (BM) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are complex, with Ceramide synthase 1 (Cers1) playing a critical role. However, the upstream factors controlling Cers1 expression remain unclear. Additionally, Kruppel-like factor 9 (KLF9) has been implicated as a potential tumor suppressor transcription factor (TF) in lung cancer. Our study aims to explore the physiological effects and molecular mechanisms of Cers1 upstream regulatory TFs in NSCLC BM, focusing on the link between KLF9 and Cers1. TFs regulating Cers1 expression were screened via GENEC

Pan-cancer analysis of PTPN6: prognostic significance and functional implications in tumor progression.

BACKGROUND: Cancer remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide, characterized by complex genetic and molecular alterations. The Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Non-Receptor Type 6 (PTPN6), also known as SHP-1, plays a critical role in regulating immune responses and cellular signaling pathways, with emerging evidence suggesting its involvement in cancer progression. Previous studies have linked aberrant PTPN6 expression to tumorigenesis in specific cancers, such as lymphoma and leukemia, where it acts as a tumor suppressor. However, the comprehensive role of PTPN6 across pan-cancer, particular

The Role of N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) RNA Modification in the Pathogenesis of Parkinson's Disease.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease with a high prevalence among the middle-aged and elderly population. The pathogenesis of PD is closely linked to the misfolding and aggregation of α-synuclein, which contributes to the formation of Lewy bodies. These processes are associated with the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons, a key neuropathological change that underlies the motor symptoms of PD. In addition, genetic susceptibility, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress and neuroinflammation are involved in the progress of the disease. Previous studies indicated that the

Epidemiological Evidence on the Associations of Metal Exposure with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias Among Elderly Women.

Background: Emerging evidence suggests a potential link between heavy metals and Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD). This study compiled epidemiological evidence from research published over the past 11 years on the impact of metals on AD/ADRD in women. Women have unique risk factors for late onset of AD/ADRD, in addition to genetic factors, apolipoprotein E allele (APOE4), and longer life expectancy. Furthermore, women are twice likely as men to experience depression, which increases their risk of developing AD/ADRD. Our narrative review underscored the necessity of a sex-spe

Comparative genomics approach to infer ancestral cell karyotypes and reconstruct the evolutionary trajectories of plant chromosomes.

Chromosomes are key structural and functional components of heredity. Reconstruction of ancestral cell karyotypes (ACKs) and evolutionary trajectories of chromosomes (CETs) can reveal how structural and functional changes in chromosomes have occurred during evolution. The whole-genome duplication integrated analysis toolkit implements a telomere-centric model on the basis of the comparative analysis of gene collinearity within and between plant genomes to reconstruct the ACKs and CETs of many angiosperm plants whose genomes have been complicated by repeated polyploidization and subsequent repa
