The causal relationship between vitiligo and autoimmune thyroid diseases: A bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

BACKGROUND: Vitiligo is an acquired autoimmune depigmented disorder characterized by the presence of white and well-defined patches on the skin, mucous membrane, or both. It is associated with a significant disease burden and has a profoundly impacts patients' quality of life. Autoimmune thyroid diseases (AITDs) result from an autoimmune system dysregulation, leading to an erroneous immune attack on the thyroid gland. Previous observational and epidemiological studies have suggested the association between vitiligo and AITDs. However, the bidirectional cause-effect relationship between vitilig

Antibody immune responses and causal relationships in four immune skin diseases: Evidence from Mendelian randomization and Bayesian Weighting (Antibody Responses in Skin Diseases: MR & Bayesian).

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

BACKGROUND: Recent studies increasingly suggest that microbial infections and the immune responses they elicit play significant roles in the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory skin diseases. This study uses Mendelian randomization (MR) and Bayesian weighted Mendelian randomization (BWMR) to explore the causal relationships between immune antibody responses and four common skin diseases: psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (AD), rosacea, and vitiligo. METHODS: We utilized summary statistics from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for antibody responses to 13 infectious pathogens and four skin d

Non-invasive imaging techniques in presurgical margin assessment of basal cell carcinoma: Current evidence.

BACKGROUND: The diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is based on clinical and dermoscopical features. In uncertain cases, innovative imaging techniques, such as reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) and optical coherence tomography (OCT), have been used. The main limitation of these techniques is the inability to study deep margins. HFUS (high-frequency ultrasound) and the most recent UHFUS (ultra-high-frequency ultrasound) have been used in various applications in dermatology, but they are not yet routinely used in the diagnosis of BCC. A key point in clinical practice is to find an imagin

An optimal method for quantifying the facial sebum level and characterizing facial sebum features.

BACKGROUND: Evidence suggests that sebum content is important in skin disorders such as acne. However, sebum levels change depending on the external environment, and quantifying skin sebum levels is challenging. Here, we propose an optimal method for quantifying the facial sebum level. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Four hundred and sixty participants (160 males and 300 females) aged 20-40 were enrolled in this study. A Sebumeter SM 810 was used to measure the sebum level at five facial locations: the forehead, the chin, the left cheek, the right cheek, and the nose. The participants were divided int
