There is growing acceptance of conservative surgery for ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. An uncommon, yet potentially fatal, complication is delayed hemorrhage due to persistence of gestational tissue. An illustrative case is presented. Routine postoperative determination of serum human chorionic gonadotropin levels and the use of frozen sections when a partial salpingectomy is carried out are recommended to identify and prevent this condition.

Conventional microsurgical reanastomosis was compared with laser microsurgical reanastomosis of previously ligated uterine tubes in 14 rabbits. A final laparotomy was performed to determine adhesion formation and uterine tube patency, and a histologic examination was done of the anastomosis sites using four histologic indices for grading. To evaluate the reproductive consequences of prenatal diethylstilbestrol (DES) exposure, 33 infertile couples were studied in whom the female had been exposed to DES in utero. Infertility was attributed to uterotubal junction obstruction in 3 couples, anovulation in 7, endometriosis in 11, cervical obstruction in 2, adnexal adhesions in 2, oligospermia in 1 and luteal insufficiency in 3; in 4 couples no cause of infertility could be identified. Seventy-two rabbits were artificially inseminated at the time of ovulation induced by intravenous human chorionic gonadotropin. Twenty-four hours later vaginal suppositories containing graded amounts of prostaglandin F2alpha (PGF2alpha) (5 to 25 mg) were inserted into test rabbits in each group. A control group received plain vaginal suppositories. Ten days later the rabbits were killed and examined for numbers of corpora lutea and implantation sites. Salpingostomy for hydrosalpinx was carried out using a microsurgical technique. The postoperative patency rate was over 90%. Among the 41 patients followed for more than 1 year, 29% have had one or more intrauterine pregnancies and 27% have had live births. The ectopic gestation rate was 12%. All of the tubal gestations occurred in the 1st postoperative year whereas 60% of the intrauterine pregnancies occurred after the 1st year, suggesting a degree of restoration in the mucosa and the musculature of the oviduct with the re-establishment of patency and the passage of time.

OBJECTIVE: To describe the nutritional status of women with peritoneal metastasis (PM) from recurrent ovarian, fallopian, or peritoneal cancer and to assess longitudinal variations of the cachexia-anorexia syndrome (CAS) during palliative pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC).

BACKGROUND: Ovarian tumors are common gynecological diseases in children, and the most commonly seen ovarian tumors are germ cell tumors. Robotic surgery is the new access for children ovarian tumors.
CASE SUMMARY: From June to October 2017, 4 children with ovarian tumors were admitted and treated in the Department of Pediatric Surgery of People's Liberation Army General Hospital. The mean age, height, and weight of these patients were 7.5 (1-13) years old, 123.75 (71-164) cm, and 36.8 (8.5-69.5) kg, respectively. Robotic-assisted resection of ovarian tumors was performed for all 4 patients.
