Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas: an immunohistochemical and histological study.

Immunohistochemical and histoogical studies have been performed on paraffin sections of 19 cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). All the cases were lymphocytic in type and, on the basis of the National Lymphoma Investigation classification, 11 were follicular (six small, three mixed small and large, and two large cell types) and eight were diffuse (four intermediate, three poorly and one well-differentiated types). Chromosome 14 translocations in non-Burkitt lymphomas.

Chromosome studies were performed on malignant cells obtained from 27 patients with non-Burkitt lymphomas. A marker chromosome affecting the long arm of No. 14 (14q+) was the single most frequent abnormality and was noted in 17 of these patients. The frequency of the 14q+ marker varied with the type of lymphoma. Classical mycosis fungoides and Sezary syndrome are part of a larger spectrum of cutaneous T cell lymphomas. Widespread infiltration of the skin, early invovlement of the T cell regions of lymphoid tissue and relative sparing of the bone marrow apparently result from the distinctive properties of the neoplastic lymphocytes. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase activity in malignant lymphomas.

To determine the usefulness of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase enzyme activity as a biochemical marker in the study of lymphoma, we assayed 50 various malignant lymphomas as well as normal lymphoid tissue for this activity. [Lipoid nephrosis in a child with advanced Hodgkin's lymphoma].

This is a case of an eight year old male, with Hodgkin's disease grade IV-B, with initial clinical presentation of nephrotic syndrome. The renal biopsy showed minimal change lesions. He had a complete remission of the nephrotic syndrome and Hodgkin's disease after been given prednisone and chemotherapy respectively. The remission of the nephrotic persisted 22 months and the Hodgkin's disease, 23 months. It has been established that cellular immunity is altered in Hodgkin's disease. A case of T-cell lymphoma with convoluted lymphocytes.

A case of T-cell lymphoma, as defined by immunologic studies of lymph node, peripheral blood, and cultured cells, is presented. Convoluted lymphocytes were noted in the original lymph node biopsy, in cerebral spinal fluid preparations and terminally, in the peripheral blood. The prominent neuologic abnormalities representing both central and peripheral nervous system involvement were atypical. Membrane cell markers in human leukemias and lymphomas.

The availability of B- and T-cell membrane markers has provided new approaches and concepts in the study of lymphoproliferative diseases; The present status of knowledge in monoclonal B-cell proliferations, T-cell proliferations such as the Sézary syndrome and chronic lymphocytic leukemia of T-cell origin, acute lymphoblastic leukemias and non-Hodgkin lymphomas is briefly reviewed.

Comparative cytogenetic and cytologic study in malignant lymphomas.

The possibility of a cytogenetic-cytologic correlation with implications in the diagnosis, evolutivity and prognosis of malignant lymphomas was studied. Инфекция нервной системы токсоплазмой, цитомегаловирусом и вирусом варицелла-зостером описывается у трех взрослых пациентов с злокачественной лимфомой. Особое внимание уделяется морфологической идентификации этих организмов при иных неконкретных повреждениях. Поскольку такие межтекущие инфекции обычно не диагностируются клинически у пациентов с децилиляцией, их распознавание при вскрытии имеет важное значение, особенно с учетом широкого распространения этих организмов среди нормального населения.
