BACKGROUND: Orbital hypertelorism is defined as a lateralization of the total orbit. This condition is associated almost always with congenital abnormalities. An acquired total displacement of the orbit is almost impossible once the bony pillars of the craniofacial complex are established. The aim of this article was to discuss a case of a young man with paranasal sinus mucocele, who developed OHT.

This study compared the morbidity associated with transconjunctival and transcutaneous approaches for orbital floor exploration with respect to the position of the lower eyelid following surgery. Two groups of 32 volunteers and 32 patients (12 transconjunctival and 20 transcutaneous) were recruited and three-dimensional (3D) imaging was carried out at 6 months following surgery. Uni- or bilateral blindness is an infrequent but severe complication after spinal surgery and typically occurs more frequently in elderly patients. The visual loss may be caused by ischemic optic neuropathy , central retinal artery or vein occlusion or cerebral stroke . It has often been attributed to various causes such as hemorrhagic shock, hypotension, coagulopathic disorders and embolism. However blindness as a surgical complication has rarely been described as a consequence of prolonged compression of the eye.

An orbital sialocele developed in a dog following enucleation for protracted glaucoma. This eye had historically been treated for keratoconjunctivitis sicca by parotid duct transposition approximately 5 years previously, and the duct was ligated distally at the time of enucleation. PURPOSE: To report a case of late onset lamellar keratitis and epithelial ingrowth associated with orbital cellulitis 1 month after LASIK surgery.
METHODS: A 19-year-old patient presented with pain and subsequent blurry vision in the right eye. One month prior to presentation, he had undergone LASIK in both eyes. Orbital cellulitis was suspected.
RESULTS: Under aggressive treatment, the patient recovered from orbital cellulitis and lamellar keratitis and he also regained his vision with topical steroid treatment.

We describe 2 patients with severe orbital myiasis due to Cochliomyia hominivorax (of the order Diptera and the family Calliphoridae) who had underlying skin carcinomas and were treated with oral ivermectin and debridement. We suggest that ivermectin plays an important role in the treatment of severe cases of myiasis.

A 50-year-old woman with a clinically negative breast examination was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer only after pathologic evidence of an orbital metastasis. PURPOSE: To describe a new conjunctiva-sparing technique for secondary orbital implantation after evisceration.
METHODS: Two patients with conjunctival cicatrization and a volume-deficient anophthalmic socket had implantation of an intraconal biointegratable implant. This was placed through a lateral canthal approach, after temporary disinsertion of the lateral rectus, thereby avoiding further injury to the conjunctiva.
