Dengue is a rapidly increasing vector-borne disease with a high burden in South and Southeast Asia. This article presents an overview of the current dengue situation in Bangladesh, highlighting the critical public health challenges caused by this infectious disease. Between January and September 2023, a total of 203406 people were infected, and 989 people died, with a case fatality rate of 0.49%. Coypus (Myocastor coypus) are widespread throughout Europe. In northern Italy, they are abundant in the flatland areas, and their high population densities can cause economic loss and ecosystem damage. We examined 153 coypus for selected parasitic and bacterial infections. The majority of complete hydatidiform moles (CHMs) harbor duplicated haploid genomes that originate from sperm. This makes CHMs more advantageous than conventional diploid cells for determining haplotypes of SNPs and copy-number variations (CNVs), because all of the genetic variants in a CHM genome are homozygous. Mass treatments with ivermectin have been undertaken each year since 1987 in an area hyperendemic for onchocerciasis in northern Cameroon. The impact of these successive treatments on the incidence of infection in humans was evaluated by comparing the prevalence of skin microfilariae (PMF) and the mean microfilarial skin densities (MFD) observed in 1987 and 1992 in 5-7-year-old children who had never taken the drug but who were members of the treated communities. Spleen and light density peripheral blood leukocytes of 10 hairy cell leukemia (HCL) patients and total leukocytes of one patient and blood donor cells were stained quantitatively for cellular DNA.
