BACKGROUND: In general, atlantoaxial dislocation is rare due to the stability of the C1-C2 complex. Traumatic atlantoaxial dislocations are usually anterior and accompanied by odontoid fractures. Posterior atlantoaxial dislocations are rare, and complete posterior dislocation without associated fracture is even more rare. A case of early recurrence of posterior atlantoaxial dislocation without fracture being in therapy of first closed reduction and then open reduction has not been previously reported.

INTRODUCTION: Entropion and secondary trichiasis can lead to irritative symptoms and essential damage of ocular surface. There is no literature reporting the lower eyelid entropion related to thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO), let alone the treatment. Treatment based on etiology may yield effective and sustained results. We report 3 case reports of lower eyelid entropion associated with TAO, and provide an effective and persistent alternative to cure this entropion via the administration of shallow periorbital injections of triamcinolone acetonide (TA).

BACKGROUND: Tethered cord syndrome (TCS) is a clinical diagnosis of progressive neurologic aggravation of the lower spinal cord due to a traction on the conus medullaris. Untethering surgery is effective for most TCS; however, when anatomic variations of spinal cord and filum terminale (FT) exist, regular untethering may lead to a failed outcome.
CASE DESCRIPTION: The authors present the case of a 45-year-old patient with TCS caused by duplicated FT with split cord malformation (SCM). Lumbosacral magnetic resonance imaging revealed a type II SCM with a significant low-lying conus medullaris.
