We present a case of larva currens in a patient scheduled for renal transplant. Larva currens is an eruption caused by Strongyloides stercoralis, characterized most often by a pathognomonic, migratory, rapidly extending, serpiginous, urticarial eruption. Infected patients who are immunocompromised are at risk for disseminated and often fatal infection. In disseminated disease, diffuse petechiae and purpura may be present, and periumbilical ecchymoses may resemble thumbprints. Whereas it is well known that idiopathic HCM can present in newborns and infants, little information is available on HT in this very young age group. We report a series of 17 infants with idiopathic HCM, including two neonates with rapidly progressive severe HF for whom HT was necessary. When HF manifests in a newborn/infant with idiopathic HCM and extreme cavity size reduction, the possibility of a rapidly progressive clinical course should be anticipated and HT may become the only available therapeutic solution.

BACKGROUND: The shortage of donor hearts stimulates the debate whether heart transplantation is justified for older recipients. We studied the effect of recipient's age on heart transplantation outcome in a large cohort of recipients.
METHODS: Between March 1989 and December 2004, 1262 adult recipients underwent heart transplantation. Recipients were divided into two groups: 540 recipients aged younger than 55 years and 722 aged 55 years or older.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this article is to report our experience concerning the indications and results for combined liver-kidney transplantation in our centre.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: From July 1991 to October 2006, 26 patients underwent combined liver-kidney transplantation in our establishment. We are reporting the case of a 17-year-old girl with kidney transplant under immunosuppressive treatment. Evidences of transplant malfunction led to urinary cytology to rule out BKV infection. The smears showed the presence of koilocytes. Gynecologic examination revealed numerous condylomatous lesions in the vulva, vagina, and cervix. A 32-year-old woman with bilateral hip chondrolysis diagnosed 2 years following allogeneic liver transplantation is described. Severe osteoarthritis was demonstrated on physical examination, serial radiographs and magnetic resonance imaging.
