PURPOSE: To report the functional and radiographic outcomes of a cohort of patients treated for ulnar impaction syndrome with a single technique of ulnar shortening osteotomy.
METHOD: We performed ulnar shortening osteotomy on 18 consecutive patients over a 10-year period by using an oblique osteotomy and compression plating technique with an AO compression device (Synthes, Paoli, PA). OBJECTIVES: To develop an anterior thoracolumbar K-plate fixation system and to report its preliminary clinical application.
METHODS: The K-plate system was developed with titanium alloy(TC4, Ti6A14V) and self-locking screw design was used. In 23 cases treated with this system, 13 had thoracolumbar fracture, 9 tuberculosis, and back syndrome after lumbar TFC operation.

Pedicular fixation has found great acceptance as a modality for spinal fusions. Being a "blind technique" it is associated with a potential high risk of neural and vascular morbidity. We reviewed 14 patients (16 hips) treated by open reduction and upper femoral derotation osteotomy for congenital dislocation of the hip. Nine patients with 11 treated hips had growth deformities of the proximal femur; in all of them the top screw of the fixation plate lay within the cartilaginous precursor of the greater trochanter. One hundred and thirty-eight femoral lengthening operations have been performed in 133 children. The etiology of the shortening was poliomyelitis in 71, infection in 20 and congenital abnormalities in 28.
