A 47-year-old mildly obese female began a weight reduction program that included anorectic therapy with phentermine and phendimetrazine. BACKGROUND: Using an HPLC/ETAAS hybrid speciation technique we previously demonstrated iron to have a multifold effect on the binding of aluminum to transferrin by limiting the number of available binding sites and decreasing the affinity of transferrin for aluminum. BACKGROUND: Cyclophosphamide has been used increasingly to treat patients with nonmalignant diseases like primary glomerulonephritis and systemic vasculitis. Thus long-term side effects like gonadal toxicity have become an important issue.
