Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculopathy resulting in severe impairments of many body structures and functions with consequent limitations of activities and participation. Childhood TB diagnosis is challenging. Studies in adults suggest Microscopic Observation Drug Susceptibility (MODS) culture or the Xpert MTB/RIF assay might be used to expand bacteriological diagnosis. PURPOSE: Jumping is popular in the sport of snowboarding. Epidemiological research has shown an increased risk of injury associated with this activity. Falls are common when jumping and although there is a logical connection between falling and injury occurrence, thus far little attention has been given to factors involved in the jumping-fall relationship. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between obesity and outcomes after microdiscectomy for lumbar disc herniation.
METHODS: The primary outcome measure was change in Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) at 1 year after surgery. Obesity was defined as body mass index (BMI) ≥30. Prospective data were retrieved from the Norwegian Registry for Spine Surgery.

Use of the iron chelator deferiprone for treatment of iron overload in thalassemia patients is associated with concerns over agranulocytosis, which requires weekly absolute neutrophil counts (ANC). Here, we analyze all episodes of agranulocytosis (n = 161) and neutropenia (n = 250) during deferiprone use in clinical trials (CT) and postmarketing surveillance programs (PMSP).
