METHODS: This review was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) statement recommendations. We present a case of exotropia secondary to a lost medial rectus muscle managed using a novel surgical approach, consisting of nasal belly transposition of the superior rectus muscle combined with lateral rectus recession on adjustable sutures. Postoperatively, the patient was orthotropic in primary position and had slight improvement in adduction. Compared to other techniques, this minimal transposition had a relatively low risk of anterior segment ischemia.

Iatrogenic lacrimal drainage trauma during surgery is not common. It has been reported during orbital surgeries, medial maxillectomies, post-trauma repairs, excision of adherent lesions in the vicinity, and facial reconstructive procedures. The present case reports a focal loss of the lacrimal sac wall during the excision of an intricate dermoid cyst. The defect was sealed by a nasal mucosal graft harvested from the floor of the ipsilateral nasal cavity. Postoperatively, the epiphora was resolved, and a CT-dacryocystography confirmed the anatomical integrity of the reconstructed lacrimal sac.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the resection-recession procedure on a single muscle for the management of incomitant strabismus using an alternative calculation.

The multiple radial stromal deep corneal incisions placed in radial keratotomy (RK) lead to higher-order aberrations and pose a surgical challenge to performing any further corrective procedure on the cornea because of fear of inducing an incisional dehiscence. A method to perform pinhole pupilloplasty (PPP) in the setting of previous RK is presented. Application of pinhole optics by performing PPP leads to significant improvement in image quality and helps to optimize visual potential in post-RK cases.
