BACKGROUND: Midterm outcome studies show that symptomatic femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) can be successfully treated by addressing the underlying pathomorphology with open or arthroscopic surgery. Although athletes may be vulnerable to hip injury from impingement, limited information is available regarding the results of open surgery in this group.
HYPOTHESIS: High-level athletes with FAI can resume their sports after surgical hip dislocation and continue professional careers for a significant period.

PURPOSE: To study the feasibility of applying Krackow locking stitches in the endoscopic-assisted repair of acute Achilles tendon rupture and the possible complications encountered.
TYPE OF STUDY: Anatomic study.
METHODS: Twelve Achilles tendons in six cadavers were cut at 6cm from its insertion and endoscopic-assisted repair of Achilles tendon was performed. These legs were then cut open in midline to study (i) the locking stitches formed and (ii) the relation of the sural nerve to the locking stitches.

In this article we describe the fundamental concepts that were established by Essex-Lopresti over 50 years ago and explore the current concepts in anatomy, biomechanics, diagnosis, and treatment for longitudinal radioulnar dissociation. Moreover, we present encouraging results for treating chronic injuries to the IOM achieved by bone-ligament-bone (BLB) reconstruction using a patellar tendon graft, giving hope for this seemingly unforgiving injury. A treatment algorithm is also provided to aid in the management of acute and chronic longitudinal radioulnar dissociation.
