PURPOSE: The study aims to perform a meta-analysis to compare the diagnostic value of FDG PET with PET/CT in detecting peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) to identify the potentially most useful diagnostic modality.
METHODS: A computer-aided search was performed in the Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, the China Biological Medicine Database, VIP, China National Knowledge Infrastructure database, and Wanfang databases for articles concerning diagnosis of peritoneal metastases with PET or PET/CT. QUADAS was used to evaluate the included articles' quality.

Malignant mesotheliomas are aggressive neoplasms arising from mesothelial cells lining the body cavities. Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) account for about one-third of the cases. Though the ovarian involvement may be seen in the background of a diffuse peritoneal involvement, the presentation of MPM as a primary ovarian mass is rare. Here we present such a case who underwent surgery but had residual progressive lesion. She received further chemotherapy resulting in a complete response and is disease free for almost a year.

Experimental animal models improve our understanding of technical problems in peritoneal dialysis PD, and such studies contribute to solving crucial clinical problems. We established an acute and chronic PD model in nonuremic and uremic rats. We observed that kinetics of PD in rats change as the animals are aging, and this effect is due not only to an increasing peritoneal surface area, but also to changes in the permeability of the peritoneum. Despite staging laparoscopy (SL) with peritoneal lavage is recommended in US Guidelines in patients with potentially resectable gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma, this procedure is not systematically proposed in French Guidelines. Therefore, we decided to analyze the results of systematic SL in patients considered for preoperative chemotherapy. From 2005 to 2011, 116 consecutive patients with distal esophagus, esogastric junction, and gastric adenocarcinoma ≥T3 or N+ without detectable metastatic dissemination by computed tomography (CT) scan imaging underwent SL before neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

INTRODUCTION AND AIMS: the precise role of parenteral nutrition in the management of oncologic patients with intestinal occlusion is not well defined yet. We aimed to identify the effects of parenteral nutrition in these patients regarding prognosis.
