Rett Syndrome (RTT) is an X-linked neurodevelopmental disorder caused mainly by mutations in the MECP2 gene. Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP1) is a major member of the PARP superfamily that is involved in DNA damage signalling and other important cellular processes. Persistent coinfection with the hepatitis B/D viruses (HDV) represents the most severe form of viral hepatitis.
