PURPOSE: To evaluate the combined effect of conductive keratoplasty (CK) followed by corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) in 2 patients with keratoconus.
METHODS: CK spots were applied on the flatter side of the cornea followed by CXL using riboflavin and UV-A light.
RESULTS: Immediately after CK, a significant corneal topographic improvement was observed. The CK effect regressed 3 months postoperatively and remained unchanged until the sixth postoperative month in both patients.

To improve the efficiency of stable knockdown with short hairpin RNA (shRNA), we inserted multiple shRNA expression sequences into a single plasmid vector. L-929 is an adherent type of mouse fibroblast cell line was known as an alternate test system for toxicity assessment. Its photosensitivity towards ultraviolet radiation (UVR) was studied under the exposure to various intensities of UVA, UVB and sunlight. Actinic keratoses (AK) is a sun induced cutaneous lesion, currently considered as a squamous cell carcinoma in situ that has the potential to progress to invasive SCC. To treat them, numerous, ablative and no ablative, therapeutic approaches exist. Among them, imiquimod, a toll like receptor agonist, recently approved to treat them in the US and Europe, has demonstrated to be effective and safe with an acceptable tolerability in the treatment of these lesions.
