Isolated parenchymal splenic lesions are very rare and may occur as recurrences in the form of epithelial tubo-ovarian cancer (ETOC). We report a case of solitary parenchymal splenic recurrence of ETOC, which developed 50 months after the initial treatment. A 66-year-old woman underwent laparotomic primary cytoreduction in 2008. It has to have a wide spectre and would be secondarily adapted in case of a sexually transmitted infection. Cutaneous ciliated cyst is an exceedingly rare, benign lesion most commonly found in the dermis or subcutis of the lower extremities of young female patients in their second and third decades. A 12-year-old girl presented with a "threadlike fiber" in her underwear associated with lower abdominal pain. She denied insertion of any foreign body, and at examination under anesthetic, a threadlike substance was seen exiting her external cervical os. Her only medical history was of an open appendicectomy for perforated appendicitis. Subsequent pathologic examination showed a collapsed mesothelial cyst, and laparoscopy showed a cyst and inflammatory changes consistent with previous appendicectomy surrounding her right ovary. We review the possible causes for this most unusual presentation.

Enterosalpingeal fistula is a rare complication of Crohn's disease which is rarely diagnosed preoperatively. We describe a new case of this complication suspected by CT scan and confirmed by hysterosalpingogram and contrast from the ileum. This case is about a 50-year-old woman suffering from ileal Crohn's disease diagnosed two years previously and actually complicated by stenosis and entero-salpingeal fistula. The treatment consisted on resection of the ileocaecal region with salpingectomy. Postoperative course was uneventful.

Laparoscopy is increasingly used by gynaecologists for the investigation of adnexal masses. Uncertainty exists whether ovarian tumours of low malignant potential can effectively be treated by laparoscopy, whether staging bears a benefit for all patients, whether port-site metastases are a problem and how long patients need to be followed up after surgery. This review summarises the evidence to address these important questions.

We assessed two diagnostic methods, Chlamydia trachomatis-specific IgG and hysterosalpingography (HSG), as a screening test for the likelihood of tubal damage or occurrence of pregnancy before laparoscopy in 178 subfertile women who were randomly assigned to HSG followed by laparoscopy or immediate laparoscopy. The diagnostic accuracy and prognostic value of both C. trachomatis-specific IgG antibody testing and HSG are comparable but show poor performance.

Endometrial ablation is used extensively to treat dysfunctional bleeding. Since the introduction of Essure tubal sterilization, this permanent contraception method has been widely used.
