Measuring antimicrobial prescribing quality in outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) services: development and evaluation of a dedicated national antimicrobial prescribing survey.

BACKGROUND: Antimicrobial stewardship programmes are important in driving safety and quality of antimicrobial prescribing. The National Antimicrobial Prescribing Survey (NAPS) is a point-prevalence audit of inpatient antimicrobial prescribing in Australian hospitals. OBJECTIVES: To design and adapt the NAPS tool for use in the outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) and hospital-in-the-home (HITH) setting. METHODS: An inter-disciplinary working group with expertise in OPAT and HITH services was established to adapt the NAPS template for use in the OPAT setting-called HITH-NAPS. Th

[Analysis of current diagnostic and treatment approaches for acute rhinosinusitis according polyclinics data of the outpatient service of Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation].

UNLABELLED: Acute rhinosinusitis is one of the most common outpatient diseases. The duration of antibiotic therapy in practice can be a cause of disagreement. The latest European guideline for rhinosinusitis EPOS 2020 does not specify clear terms for antibacterial therapy for acute bacterial rhinosinusitis, which suggests that they are determined by the attending physician based on the rate of regression of clinical manifestations in each specific clinical case. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the treatment regimens of adult patients with acute rhinosinusitis in the system of the outpatient service of

Ten years of follow-up data in psoriatic arthritis: results based on standardized monitoring of patients in an ordinary outpatient clinic in southern Norway.

BACKGROUND: Over the last decade, a treat-to-target (T2T) strategy has been recommended for psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and new treatment options have become available. There is a lack of data on PsA regarding any changes that may have occurred over these past years. Thus, the main aim of this study was to look for changes in clinical disease status and treatment in a PsA outpatient clinic population monitored over the period 2008 to 2017. METHODS: Annual data collection included demographic data, laboratory (erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP)) and clinic measures

Factors Associated With Longer Postoperative Outpatient Follow-up Duration in Patients With Single Lumbar Disc Herniation: A Noncomplicated Patient Cohort Study.

OBJECTIVE: Many reports have described the outcomes of surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH). However, few reports have investigated the treatment period after lumbar disc surgery. If no complications occur, how long should an ordinary patient be treated? Which factors are associated with the outpatient follow-up period (OFP)? To answer these questions, we reviewed the medical records of patients who underwent lumbar disc surgery, calculated their average OFP, and sought to identify factors associated with the OFP. METHODS: Patients who underwent surgical treatment of single-leve
