PURPOSE: To report choroidal caverns in patients affected by recessive Stargardt disease (STGD1) and to investigate its clinical features.
METHODS: Retrospective analysis of STGD1 patients recruited at the Regional Reference Center for Hereditary Retinal Degenerations at the Eye Clinic in Florence from 2012 to 2017. PURPOSE: Macular edema after cataract surgery is the main cause of unfavorable visual outcome and more common in diabetic patients. The objective of this study was to evaluate the time course of change in macular thickness in diabetic patients, compared with that in nondiabetic patients after uneventful cataract surgery.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: To describe the clinical characteristics and course of 16 patients with uveitis associated with multiple sclerosis (MS).
METHODS: The records of 1254 patients with uveitis were reviewed. Sixteen of these patients had MS. The history, review of systems, ocular findings, and clinical test results of each of these 16 subjects were analyzed. The mean follow-up time was 38 months.

Between 1972 and 1988, 25 patients were treated by radiation therapy (RT) alone for pituitary macroadenomas causing visual impairment. Twenty-three patients were evaluated by a neuro-ophthalmologist before treatment and at the time of follow-up review. Radiation treatment consisted of 4000 to 5000 cGy over 4 to 5 weeks. We evaluated aphakia and pseudophakia in highly myopic patients whose axial lengths were 27 mm and over. Cataract surgery alone was performed on 99 eyes (aphakic group) and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation was performed on 84 eyes (pseudophakic group). The IOL power was determined by the SRK formula and ranged from +9.0 to +18.5 diopters (D).
