OBJECTIVE: To report the usefulness of inverted scan technique using Spectral domain Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in inflammatory fungal chorioretinitis.
DESIGN: Case Report-Interventional.
METHODS: We present a 53 year old female with sudden painful blurring of vision in left eye. Ocular examination revealed retinochoroiditis.OCT using the inverted scan technique showed a choroidal mass lesion. Polymerase chain reaction was positive for panfungal genome. We report on a 7-year-old girl with cerebral vivax malaria complicated by pancytopenia. The diagnosis of malaria was done by demonstration of trophozoites of Plasmodium vivax in the peripheral blood smear and confirmed by both a species-specific antigen detection technique and a sensitive polymerase chain reaction method. Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) is an opportunistic infection of the central nervous system with JC virus. Few cases have been described in lupus patients. We describe biopsy-proven PML in a lupus patient receiving mycophenolate mofetil and corticosteroids. Otitis media is a rare involvement among extrapulmonary tuberculosis. We reported 4 cases of otitis media tuberculosa, and their mean age was 28.3 (ranging 20 to 37). Three of them were complicated with pulmonary tuberculosis. Since it takes several months to establish definite diagnosis, such cases could have high risk in spreading tuberculosis.
