OBJECTIVES: Behçet's disease (BD) is a chronic inflammatory condition with immune system dysregulation. A 51-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with tonsillar swelling. After tonsillectomy was performed, she was diagnosed as having CD56-positive T-cell lymphoma, mainly composed of small and medium-sized atypical cells. Tropical spastic paraparesis (TSP) and other chronic-progressive myelopathies have been clearly associated with increased serum and cerebrospinal fluid antibody titers to human T-lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I). A 39-year-old woman exhibited abrupt malignant transformation of the large granular lymphocytes (LGL) after a chronic course of T gamma-lymphoproliferative disease (T gamma-LPD).
