AIMS: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) and pulmonary vascular remodelling are common in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Many patients with HFpEF demonstrate an abnormal pulmonary haemodynamic response to exercise that is not identifiable at rest. BACKGROUND: The 3 isoforms of nonmuscle myosin (NM) II (NMII-A, NMII-B, and NMII-C) play various roles during mouse embryonic development. Previous work, using knockout and hypomorphic mice, showed that Myh10 encoding myosin heavy chain II-B is critical for cardiac and brain development. Ablating or decreasing NMII-B by 80% results in cardiac (ventricular septal defect, double outlet of the right ventricle) and brain defects but not midline fusion defects. OBJECTIVE: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a frequent complication in connective tissue diseases (CTD), especially in systemic sclerosis (SSc), and is associated with a high degree of morbidity and mortality. We undertook a systematic review for the screening tests for CTD-PAH.

Stenosis of the semilunar valve in the presence of a functionally single arterial trunk is uncommon. At the Mayo Clinic, 13 patients with Ebstein's malformation have undergone surgical repair since 1963. Their ages ranged from 18 months to 51 years (median 13 years). Ten patients were in Functional Class III or IV.
