OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the diagnostic efficacy of 2D B-mode, color and pulsed Doppler Hy-Co-Sy and 3D B-mode and power Doppler Hy-Co-Sy.
STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: One hundred and fifty-two women were recruited into the 2D B-mode, color and pulsed Doppler Hy-Co-Sy study and 116 other women were recruited into the 3D B-mode and power Doppler Hy-Co-Sy study. We assessed the diagnostic performance (sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV) of 2D and 3D Hy-Co-Sy, compared to hysteroscopy, and laparoscopy and dye test in the assessment of uterine abnormalities and tubal patency, respectively.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the diagnostic benefit of laparoscopy in infertile women with normal hysterosalpingography (HSG) or suspected unilateral pathology on HSG.
STUDY DESIGN: Charts of infertile women that underwent complete infertility evaluation between 1996 and 1998 were retrospectively reviewed. Eighty-six patients in whom both HSG and laparoscopy were performed were included in the study. BACKGROUND: We evaluated whether measuring chlamydia genus- and species-specific immunoglobulin (Ig) G antibodies might improve the predictive value of C. trachomatis antibody testing (CAT) in screening for distal tubal pathology (DTP).

Primary care physicians can manage two thirds of cases of suspected infertility. Assisted reproductive technology can help in many cases of pelvic adhesive disease, although the effectiveness of these procedures declines significantly with patient age. Testing for ovarian reserve is an important first step for many patients who are considering infertility treatment. Some causes of infertility are associated with significant medical problems such as diabetes and abnormal lipids; these should be assessed and a long-term management plan implemented.

This is the report of a patient, that had without using any assisted reproduction technology (ART) the rare event of a heterotopic pregnancy. After verifying the intrauterine pregnancy by ultrasound, the ectopic tubal pregnancy (EP) was detected at an emergency abdominal surgery as the cause of an intraabdominal hemorrhage. We studied a group of 187 infertile patients who had electromicrosurgery after laparoscopy, and falloposcopy. Follow-up information about 154 of these patients (82.4%) was available. Success rates in terms of intrauteine pregnancy was inversely related to the severity of peritubal and intratubal adhesions. Electromicrosurgery should only be preformed when clinical benefit is reasonably likely.
