Sickle cell trait (SCT) carries a small risk of renal medullary carcinoma (RMC). We conducted a systematic literature review and reported new four RMC cases (total N = 217). Eighty eight percent had SCT and 8% had sickle cell disease; 50% were children. Males had 2.4× risk than females. Isolated hematuria or in combination with abdominal or flank pain was the presenting sign in 66% cases. Tumor-related mortality was 95%. A 3-year-old intact male Perro de Presa Canario dog was presented with acutely inflamed and edematous right hind limb, scrotum, prepuce, and an enlarged left carpus. Two weeks later the dog returned with weight loss, draining tracts in the right hind limb, dermal nodules, a palpable abdominal mass, and uveitis in the left eye. The dog succumbed to his illness 2 days later and a widely disseminated round cell tumor compatible with histiocytic sarcoma was diagnosed following postmortem examination.

Epithelioid angiomyolipoma has malignant potential; however, no effective therapy has been established for advanced cases. A 50-year-old woman with a history of right nephrectomy for epithelioid angiomyolipoma was referred to our institution. The coexistence of pheochromocytoma and renal artery stenosis had been reported occasionally from the possible mechanism of catecholoamine-induced vasospasm and extrinsic compression of renal artery in some reported cases. However, renal infarction caused by pheochromocytoma is an uncommon phenomenon. Herein, we report an interesting case of adrenal pheochromocytoma associated with renal artery thrombosis, which should be included in the differential diagnosis of pheochromocytoma patients who present with abdominal pain.
