To determine immunologic reactivity to Bacillus anthrax antigens, we conducted serologic testing of workers in a factory that performed scouring of wool and goat hair. Of 66 workers, approximately 10% had circulating antibodies or T lymphocytes that reacted with anthrax protective antigen. Individual immunity varied from undetectable to high.

We report a cluster of 4 cases of acute histoplasmosis (1 culture proven and 3 with positive serology, of which 2 were symptomatic) associated with exposure to soil during a golf course renovation. Patients in western Canada with compatible symptoms should be tested for histoplasmosis, regardless of their travel or exposure history.

Serological survey with an IFA-test showed that 58% (73/125) of the lambs and 88% (46/52) of the ewes on the island of Gotland (Sweden) has antibodies against Babesia motasi. It is likely that such a high incidence of the blood protozoan organisms plays an important part in causing the often observed anaemia in sheep on that island.

Delay in diagnosis can be serious in amoebic hepatic abscess, which is readily treatable. Two cases are presented to illustrate potential causes of delay. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the impact of false-positive IgM immunoblots on Lyme disease treatment and case reporting in a large healthcare system.
METHODS: We obtained the results of all Lyme disease serological tests ordered at U.S. Air Force healthcare facilities in the USA between January 2013 and December 2017. We conducted chart reviews to adjudicate positive IgM immunoblots (from two-tier and independent testing) as true positives or false positives using established criteria, and we assessed whether these cases were reported to the U.S. Department of Defense surveillance system.
