Interstitial lung disease (ILD) may occur in the connective tissue diseases, with a negative impact on survival. The diagnosis of ILD is established by crackles of the lung bases at auscultation, and high resolution computed tomography of the chest demonstrating diffuse opacities predominating in the bases (ground glass opacities, reticular opacities, honeycombing, and traction bronchiectases). PURPOSE: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) has become the standard treatment for symptomatic cholelithiasis. The perforation of gallbladder, bile and stone spillage, trauma to bile duct are the most common complications of LC. This study was carried out to assess the outcome of gallbladder perforation (GBP) during LC.

Anationwide survey of the epidemiology and demographics of slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) was carried out using questionnaires to investigate the incidence, clinical characteristics, and frequently used treatment procedures in Japan. AIM/BACKGROUND: Viewing the peripheral retina is the major problem in the repair of pseudophakic retinal detachments. Conventional buckling procedures in pseudophakic eyes are complicated by persistent retinal (re-) detachment and proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) more often than in phakic eyes.
METHODS: Primary vitrectomy was performed in 33 consecutive cases for pseudophakic retinal detachment with the help of liquid perfluorocarbons and a wide angle viewing system, following a standardised procedure. All eyes have passed the 12 month follow up examination.

Between 1987 and 1991, 20 patients with symptomatic postlaminectomy kyphosis were treated with anterior decompression, bone graft, and anterior cervical plate. Although uncommonly performed in this setting, splenectomy is sometimes indicated in patients with gynecologic malignancies.
