African swine fever (ASF), caused by African swine fever virus (ASFV), is a devastating viral disease in domestic pigs and wild boar. ASFV i … d degradation and thus blocking ASFV capsid assembly. Additionally, we found that ASFV exploits its virulence-associated factor pMGF300-2R to target FAM134B and enhance viral replication. Further investigations revealed that pMGF300-2R binds to FAM134B and triggers its autophagic degradation via the C-terminal LC3-interacting region (LIR) motif. Importantly …

Vibrio alginolyticus is a frequently implicated species for vibriosis in humans and diverse wildlife, but it has previously been difficult to identify from the closely related and emerging Vibrio diabolicus. Comparisons of both species, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and virulence characterizations, are scarce and impeded by intraspecies diversity, minimal genomes, discordant classification methods, and gene databases with limited utility to understudied species. The species identities of 3,442 public domain genomes (SRA files) within the Harveyi clade were re-evaluated using genomic…

In filamentous fungi, the secretory pathway plays a key role in polarized growth by delivering vesicles carrying lipids and enzymes required for cell wall synthesis and nutrition. In pathogenic species, it also supports the delivery of virulence factors. In metazoa and yeast, secretory vesicle formation occurs at the Golgi apparatus and endosomes through a complex and still partially characterized machinery involving clathrin and adaptor proteins such as AP-1. In filamentous fungi, the molecular mechanisms controlling these processes remain poorly understood. Using a mutant underexpressing the…

UNLABELLED: Long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) play pivotal regulatory roles in various biological processes, notably in immune regulation and viral infection. We previously identified the broad anti-influenza activity for LncRNA#61. Here, we further investigate the mechanism underlying its antiviral effect, both in vitro and in vivo. Using a lipid-nanoparticle-based delivery strategy, LncRNA#61 was successfully delivered into mice and effectively attenuated the replication and virulence of the highly pathogenic H5N1 influenza virus. Integrative transcriptomic analysis revealed that forced express…
